Molecular Structure:
Arabinose is an aldopentose — a monosaccharide containing five carbon atoms, and including an aldehyde (CHO) functional group. Arabinose has chemical formula C5H10O5 and a molar mass of 150.13 g/mol. D-Arabinose is a reducing sugar. D-Arabinose is a pentose analog of D-ribose that is a constituent of mycobacterial cell wall arabinogalactans. D-Arabinose is also a substrate for D-erythroascorbic acid synthesis in yeast.
