Molecular Structure:
D-Xylose or wood sugar is an aldopentose obtained from plants rich in hemicelluloses, such as sawdust, rice straw and corn cobs. D-Xylose can be dissolved in hot ethanol and pyridine easily. Its sweeteners is 67% of sucrose. Xylose has similar chemical properties to glucose, and D-Xylose can be reduced to corresponding alcohol, i.e. xylitol, or oxidized into 3-hydroxy glutarate. Xylose is the main material for the production of xylitol in China, and xylose was approved as a non-calorific sweetener by several countries.
D-Xylose is used as pharmaceutical Intermediates and medical ingredients, flavour and pet food industries, production of savoury flavours, and golden brown colour in food Industries.
